After a couple days with the new iPhone update I’ve weeded through the features I’ve lived without for a year but now couldn’t fathom not having.
1. Cut/Copy/Paste This is the most obvious and most useful. A given for the top of everyone’s lists.
2. SMS Sending Bar Apple moved the bar to the top instead of blocking off the keyboard when you send a text message. Now I can completely annoy any of my friends that still have a phone without a threaded SMS view by sending off machine gun text message responses. iPhone software version 3.0 today! If you’re not one of those few people that installed the leaked v3.0 Gold Master a week or so ago then kudos – today is your day. A friend of mine ran into an interesting problem – not having the internet on the computer which his phone is registered to. So find one that does. Download the software with the following links and take it back to your non-internet, slow-internet, whatever computer.

The AppStore reached 50,000 applications available for download according to Apple. 148apps.biz has the actual figures (48,706 active as of today). Phil Schiller showed a graph of the apparent closest competition, Google Android with 4,900. Arguably, Windows Mobile has 20,000 but no repository – so you can’t really determine the legit number. And they made sure to stick it to Palm claiming their whopping 18 apps. Continue reading »
